I learned some valuable lessons today;
So, I learned some valuable lessons today whilst I was at school. All of which I plan on sharing with you all.
1. It is very important to eat food when taking medication.
This one’s important kids. In my busy haze, I misjudged the time I ate last (it was about 6:30am) and popped some codeine laced cold & flu tablets I picked up from the chemist this morning at 8:45am thinking it wasn’t that long since I ate last. Bad move. By 9:20am I was feeling uncomfortable in my tummy, and by 10:10am I had left my assistant in the classroom as I sat on the floor doubled over in pain experiencing the most intense stomach cramps. Not pleasant. After spending 30 minutes on the floor and having eaten a scone and some corn thins I was feeling okay. I will never do that again. It was awful. Take food with your medicines, kids, unless your doctor advises you otherwise.
2. What goes around, comes around.
We had a Constable Care visit at school today and I took my Pre-Primary class to go see it. It was about getting to school safely and the two presenters were just fantastic! It was a great show. So when we got back to the classroom I had my kids draw the presenters a picture of them being safe getting to school. They also had a go writing “thank you from” and wrote their name in. So good. Anyways, I sent some messengers down to my Mum’s office to give them to her to pass on to the presenters which she did. After lunch we got a visit from them. They came to say thank you and that they had never gotten thank you notes before. They also presented a Constable Care teddy bear to our class as a thank you. My kids were SO excited and it was such an unexpected thing. So lovely. We’re now in the midst of holding a competition to name said bear. Be good people and it comes back to you. It was a good lesson for the kids in being nice.
3. Work hard, make an impression and you will get what you want.
I got appointed at the school I’m working at currently for next year. I’ll have my own Kindergarten class (well technically two classes since it’s a full time gig and Kindy’s only come 2 days a week). So these kids are 4 and 5 year olds that I’ll be teaching. I cannot wait. All the hard work paid off and resulted in a job! So excited.
And that’s all kids! Now I’m off to bed to try and kill whatever is currently killing my immune system!
Santa’s Workshop;
My class of five-year-olds know how to make smart choices;
It shocks me how supremely unintelligent supposedly intelligent people act sometimes. Seriously.
In other news, I owe a great deal of gratitude to Adam this weekend for spending 5 hours on Saturday, helping me move the furniture around in my classroom and for keeping me company for 9.5 hours in my classroom today (he worked at my desk), drawing me murals, giving me advice on the aesthetics of my room and just generally being awesome whilst I pottered around getting myself sorted for the last four weeks of term four.
My classroom has now been completely rearranged and it boasts the cutest little “Santa’s Workshop”. When I put the finishing touches on it tomorrow, you can be sure I’ll be posting some photos! I am so proud of it. I just hope the kids enjoy it.
I feel brain dead. I have pushed myself to the limit today but accomplished so much. I knew this weekend was going to be insanely busy, but I’m so glad it all worked out well. I can’t wait to go to work tomorrow!
BOY DON’T TRY TO FRONT I KNOW JUST WHAT YOU ARE;
Adam and I just finished a bit of a gym jam. I blasted my favourite gym music (Hello, Britney!) and went to town on our boxing bag. It really just highlighted to me how much I enjoy boxing. Also, how much I enjoy beating the shit out of things.
Feeling pretty pumped up! We’re off to visit our puppy and do some other various tasks before dinner tonight. Cannot wait!
Oscar;
So, we have a new addition to our little family. Meet Oscar! He’s our golden labrador puppy and he is positively gorgeous. I don’t think we could have asked for a more happy little puppy. He’s absolutely beautiful. Very energetic but has such a happy personality. He currently spends the majority of the day sleeping and spends his days at my parents house running around their garden, getting up to mischief with my dogs at there.
It is true what they say, though, that having a puppy is like having a brand new baby. We have to watch him constantly. Be rigid with his feeding times. Give him constant attention when he is awake. Organise to have him looked after by my parents when we go out. It’s a lot of work and I’m lucky that my parents are so awesome about looking after him when we need them to. And for also offering up their backyard during the day so that he can run around with my dogs there and bunk in my nanna’s granny flat at her feet, instead of being home alone. I think my Mum secretly loves having Oscar to fuss over
In any instance, my parents are awesome, and Adam and I have the best puppy dog in the whole wide world.
